Sol Monk, also known as Aviv Cohen, is a Tel Aviv-based drummer and producer whose sound is as expansive as his collaborations. A core member of Geshem, Avishai Cohen & Big Vicious, and Duo Brothers, Sol Monk has carved out a singular space in the modern jazz and beat scenes—where groove, improvisation, and deep pocket meet bold experimentation.
Rooted in jazz but never confined by it, Sol Monk’s style flows fluidly through funk, trip hop, Afrobeat, future jazz, house, and R&B—always pushing forward, always evolving.
He has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Tzahi Vantura, Uzi Navon, Marina Maximilian Blumin, Eli Degibri, Omer Avital, and Sharon Mansor, among many others—contributing his signature pulse and creative voice to countless stages and recordings.
New Moves is Sol Monk’s fourth album on Raw Tapes, and his most vibrant yet. Joined by Dor Sam on bass and Tamuz Dekel on guitar, the trio conjure a radiant fusion of dance, future jazz, and house, forming soundscapes that feel as alive as they are meticulously crafted.
“The album doesn’t just play with time—it makes time. A deep invitation to move, groove, and transcend through rhythm.”
With more releases on the horizon, Sol Monk continues to shape the sound of a new generation—one beat at a time.
